Rush was formed in
1969 by Alex Lifeson
and John Rutsey (original drummer).
Soon after the band was formed,
Geddy Lee, a friend of Alex Lifeson,
joined
the band. They began playing in
high schools
pubs, and community functions
around the Toronto
area. Finally
in 1974 Rush cut there
first record,
titled Rush. Shortly
after recording
this album, John Rutsey left
the
band for health reasons, so it's
said,
hence bringing aboard Neil
Peart.
It's been 24 years sixteen
studio
albums, three live albums,
and
four compilation albums
(Archives. Chronicles, Retro1, and Retro2),
and the band is still
going strong. They
are one of the very few
bands to
have this long of a life span with
the
original lineup. Not to mention every
one of their albums has gone either
gold
or platinum on the charts.
Rush is
truly one of the greatest
rock bands to date, with each
one of the members being highly
skilled in their field of music.
